WIN Learning Career Readiness System Release Updates: December 10, 2020

Version 3.4.0     Released 12/10/2020

Summary

Version 3.4.0 of WIN Career Readiness System code was released to production December 10, 2020. Highlights of the release include:

  • Supplemental Skills Refresh

  • Miscellaneous enhancements and bug fixes

Supplemental Skills Refresh

Adobe is ending all distribution and support of Flash Player after December 31, 2020. Supplemental Skills depends on Flash Player and therefore will no longer work after December 31, 2020. The new version of Supplemental Skills is not dependent on Flash Player.  The old Supplemental Skills will be turned off on December 23, 2020.

There are several notable changes coming with the new Supplemental Skills courseware. First, Supplemental Skills is now separate from Ready to Work Courseware and CRC 2.0. Once turned on, it can be accessed from the product dropdown or the dashboard by selecting Supplemental Skills. Data will be available in Learner and Non-learner Dashboards 2.0.

The total number of Supplemental Skills modules has been reduced to three: Business Writing, Applied Technology, and Workplace Observation. The courses that are being retired and/or repurposed for other courses are: Writing, Teamwork, Observation, and Listening. Objectives and materials from the old Observation course have been incorporated into Workplace Observation so that there are two additional units focusing on avoiding obstacles to observation and maximizing memory; however, since these units are not aligned specifically to the Workplace Observation official objectives, they are being referred to as Extra Units 1 & 2 and not Levels. The Extra Units do not currently include pre- and posttests but completion of these units will be required to earn the new Certificate of Completion.

Placement tests have been converted to pretests so that now, learners will begin at Level 1 with a pretest and then proceed through the lessons to the posttest, which when passed will unlock Level 2 and award the ebadge, and so on. If a learner wishes to skip the pretest or lessons, they may use the menu to skip ahead to the posttests as in Ready to Work Courseware. The posttests now provide a posttest feedback slide at the end letting the user know what questions they missed. Users can retake posttests at any time to try to gain a better score. They will no longer require a call to WIN Support for a reset!

Inside the courses, there is an improved look and feel that better matches Ready to Work Courseware. The page numbering system has been updated to reflect the total number of pages in each level instead of the number of pages in each lesson so that students can better gauge their progress (also consistent with other courses). Text-to-speech audio has been added throughout.

Some of the menus have improved descriptions so that learners and facilitators can better understand the objectives. The following screenshots are from Applied Technology, Level 3. All the menus now read from top to bottom rather than reverse order.

Last, but certainly not least, the new Supplemental Skills data will be available in Reports 2.0.

Miscellaneous

Essential Soft Skills Courseware offline materials have been updated to include instructional content, assessments, and capstones that address the new objectives.

Administrators are now able to proctor assessments for learners outside of their organizational hierarchy.

Class Report has been enhanced to allow users to filter by enrollment date, or activity date, and to search by individual.

Addressed a bug that was preventing administrators from batch printing credentials in certain circumstances.

Tool tips that display the learning objectives in Essential Soft Skills Courseware have been redesigned so that hovering over them does not cause the page to jump.

The List and Edit user Status dropdown option “Inactive”  has been relabelled “Deactivated” to more accurately reflect its function.
