Professional Skills Credential

Adults in South Carolina can access the WIN Learning Essential Soft Skills Assessment and Digital Literacy Assessment to earn the new South Carolina Professional Skills Credential.

The Professional Skills Credential is a combination credential that is earned by passing both the Essential Soft Skills and Digital Literacy Assessments. Job seekers who earn the credential can show employers that they not only have the communication and problem-solving skills needed in the workplace, but they also have demonstrated mastery of common workplace technologies.

The Essential Soft Skills Assessment measures the attitudinal and behavioral skills that are most needed in the workplace. There are four main skill areas in the assessment: Communicating Effectively, Conveying Professionalism, Promoting Teamwork and Collaboration, and Thinking Critically and Solving Problems. The assessment questions present a real-life workplace scenario and require the learner to choose the best and worst way to handle the situation.

The Digital Literacy Assessment measures learners' digital literacy, which refers to the ability to find, evaluate, use, create and communicate information using digital technologies. The assessment evaluates skills in five main subject areas: Computer Operations, Internet Browsing, Digital Communication, Digital Documents, and Digital Security.

When job seekers pass both assessments, they earn a custom credential signed by the governor that they can share online with their professional network and add to their resume or portfolio.
