South Carolina students and educators can now access the WIN Learning Ready to Work Courseware and Essential Soft Skills Courseware to prepare and support the successful mastery on the South Carolina Ready to Work and Essential Soft Skills Credentials.
With the added courseware and blended learning resources, teachers and students will have access to course content, data, reporting and progress monitoring, and the ability to identify a learner's readiness of foundational academic and soft skills content. Education and training will be made available for all South Carolina school districts.

WIN Supports World-Class Skills and the Profile of a South Carolina Graduate
South Carolina profile standards call for learners to achieve world-class knowledge and skills that include rigorous academics, essential soft skills, and life and career characteristics.
WIN Learning's Soft Skills Courseware and Ready to Work Courseware provides a direct alignment to the state profile standards with its blended learning curriculum. Using project-based activities and capstone projects, learners are able to demonstrate mastery of key skills. Using the Essential Soft Skills Credential, available statewide to all South Carolina students, districts can identify mastery and provide a portable credential that employers recognize as a valid assessment of essential career readiness skills.
To date, the state has implemented and administered the Ready to Work and Essential Soft Skills Credentials to more than 50,000 eleventh-grade students to determine achievement in foundational readiness and essential life and career skills including creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, and collaboration and teamwork, which are part of the “Profile of a South Carolina Graduate” framework.

The Ready to Work Credential is a workforce education and development tool, comprised of three proctored assessments, Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, and Locating Information, leading to a portable credential. It brings employers, learners and job seekers, and education / workforce partners together in building a skilled workforce, while keeping and attracting businesses with higher-wage jobs and economic growth. Students can take the South Carolina Ready to Work assessments in 11th grade and receive a credential signed by the governor.
Soft Skills courseware helps learners develop and demonstrate attitudinal and behavioral skills that are essential to success in the workplace and school. These competencies are a key component of WIN’s comprehensive approach to preparing learners for success and providing future employers with workplace-ready Candidates.
Soft Skills contains 4 modules: Communicating Effectively, Thinking Critically and Solving Problems, Conveying Professionalism, and Promoting Teamwork and Collaboration. An eBadge is earned when the learner completes the pretest, courseware, and posttest of a module. Learners must earn all 4 eBadges to earn a certificate of completion. The Soft Skills courseware aligns to the Essential Soft Skills Credential.
Essential Soft Skills assessment is composed of questions measuring entry-level work tasks and behaviors, including cooperate with others, resolve conflict and negotiate, solve problems and make decisions, observe critically, and take responsibility for learning. The assessment items require the learner to choose two answers for each question, the “best” and “worst” answers for handling each situation.
Successfully passing the assessment will earn the learner an eBadge and the Essential Soft Skills Credential. Earning the Essential Soft Skills Credential ensures the job seeker has the attitudinal and work habit skills employers demand.

The Creativity exercises in the Thinking Critically & Problem-Solving module of WIN Learning's Soft Skills courseware includes scenarios related to Creative Match, Metaphors and Thinkers, as well as cultivating and improving creativity. There is also a Creativity Self-Assessment and Brainstorming Activity.
The Thinking Critically and Solving Problems module in WIN Learning's Soft Skills courseware includes lessons and activities in Creativity, Adaptability, Reasoning, and Problem Solving.
The Promoting Teamwork and Collaboration module in WIN Learning's Soft Skills courseware includes lessons and activities on Collaboration, Diversity, Teamwork & Setting Goals, as well as Leadership. The offline portion of this module also includes a Project Based Learning Activity where learners work in a group to choose a leader and assign tasks to group members in order to create packaging and a logo for a new product; and also work together to promote the product.
The Communicating Effectively module in WIN Learning's Soft Skills courseware includes activities on Spoken Communication, Non-Verbal Communication, Email/Phone Etiquette, and Conflict Resolution. There is an offline Project-based Learning Activity where the students learn to work as a team by determining the best way to communicate to employees changes in their work benefits.
Students demonstrate their ability to problem solve and accomplish goals using digital technology by taking full advantage of WIN Learning’s Soft Skills program to build their skills. Students also learn about appropriate use of media and technology in this digital age.
The Conveying Professionalism module in WIN Learning's Soft Skills courseware includes activities regarding Career Advancement, Recognizing Initiative, and Creating a Personal Action Plan. All of these skills are elements of knowing how to learn and adapt.
The Promoting Teamwork & Collaboration module in the WIN Soft Skills courseware includes activities and assessments regarding Benefits and Challenges of Teamwork, Respecting Others, Defining Leadership, Setting Goals, and Working with Others. In this module students learn about key aspects of integrity and demonstrating quality characteristics.
The Conveying Professionalism module in WIN Learning's Soft Skills courseware contains a section regarding Punctuality and Reliability in Action, as well as self-assessments regarding "Paired Reflection" and "Being Present on the Job". In addition, Project-based Learning Activities task students to create a functional resume that highlights their particular skills and education. Students can also work in groups to collaborate on the best practices for seeking out job opportunities and how to pursue them. These skills require students to be self directed.
Students demonstrate global perspective skills throughout the WIN Learning Soft Skills modules as they learn to ask questions, assert themselves, identify leadership skills through collaboration and teamwork and communications skills. Throughout the blended learning approach of the Soft Skills program, students apply and demonstrate elements of employability and work habits that apply global perspectives in the workplace.
The Conveying Professionalism module in WIN Learning's Soft Skills courseware includes activities and lessons dealing with scenarios related to Avoiding De-motivation, Setting Priorities, and other work habits. Throughout this module students learn about persevering and setting goals and expectations for success.
The Conveying Professionalism module of WIN Learning's Soft Skills courseware is titled Work Ethic. The lessons and activities in the Work Ethic section focus on proper attitudes and behaviors in the work place.
The Promoting Teamwork and Collaboration module in WIN Learning's Soft Skills courseware includes lessons and activities on Collaboration, Diversity, Teamwork & Setting Goals, as well as Leadership. The offline portion of this module also includes a Project-based Learning Activity where learners work in a group to choose a leader and assign tasks to group members in order to create packaging and a logo for a new product; and also work together to promote the product. Students rely on interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
